Bondi Beach & Eastern Suburbs Private Tour

Coastal walks, sandstone headlands and the eastern city beyond the beach

Sydney's eastern coastline offers a different perspective on the city — sandstone cliffs, ocean pools carved into rock platforms, and historic harbour headlands at the entrance to Port Jackson. This six-hour private tour takes in Bondi Beach, the coastal walk to Bronte, Watsons Bay and South Head, with clifftop and headland stops that look back across the harbour to the CBD skyline and Opera House.

This is a private tour (1 to 4 people) shaped around how you want to spend the day. The coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte takes around 40 minutes and is easy going with no steep sections. If you prefer, your guide drives between the beaches instead.

The Route

Bondi Beach The promenade runs the full length of the beach past the Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, the oldest in the world. From the southern headland the coastal path begins, with the Icebergs pool cut into the rocks below.

Tamarama A small, significantly less crowded beach tucked between two headlands. The coastal path above it offers some of the best cliff and ocean views on the walk.

Bronte A broader beach with an ocean pool, a sheltered park and a sandstone ravine carved into the headland behind it. Popular with locals, rarely on a tourist itinerary.

Watsons Bay The oldest fishing village on the harbour, sitting at the tip of the South Head peninsula. Camp Cove is a short walk north — a small, sheltered harbour beach with clear water.

South Head The Heritage Trail follows the cliff edge past military fortifications to Hornby Lighthouse, built in 1858. The views back across the harbour entrance to the city are among the best in Sydney.

Paddington Victorian terraces line the sandstone ridges behind the eastern beaches. Paddington Reservoir Gardens is the standout — a 19th century reservoir transformed into a sunken garden, with the original brick vaults left exposed.

Barangaroo Reserve A former container terminal site landscaped to recreate the natural sandstone headland that stood here before industrial use. The foreshore path and Stargazer Lawn sit above Nawi Cove, which recreates the pre-1836 harbour shoreline.

We saw more of the Sydney area than we could have possibly done on our own. Greg fixed a yummy picnic lunch for us in Centennial Park. We ended the day in Barangaroo park.
