Two day Blue Mountains and Lithgow
Unlike our other tours which are either half or full day tours, this tour is for two days. The benefit of spending two days in the Blue Mountains and Lithgow region is that it gives extra time to experience and enjoy a wonderful part of Australia.
Some of the places we would like to show you require too much driving to fit into one day. Two days provides additional time to explore the national parks and reserves near Lithgow.
The walk to the granite tors (boulders) at Evans Crown and spending some time in the Gardens of Stone National Park are highly recommended adventures.
Even two days is not enough time but it is a good start.
Itinerary
Day 1
We travel to the Blue Mountains via the Bells Line of Road.
First stop is the Mt Tomah Botanical Garden which specialises in cool climate plants. The garden has a diverse range of plants and trees, including the Wollemi Pine and the beautiful NSW floral emblem, the Waratah.
We will then visit the basalt capped Mt Banks and or Walls Lookout, depending upon how long you would like to walk. Everything is flexible.
Pinning our ears back we make haste to Evans Crown. After walking to the top of the crown we will take in expansive valley views of the fertile countryside.
The size of the granite boulders at Evans Crown is quite amazing and it is difficult not to wonder how rocks of this size have ended up here.
We return to Lithgow for a short look at the town and then head to our accommodation. Dining options will be discussed and we transport you to and from your choice of eatery.
Day 2
On the second day we will explore some of the magnificent geological formations in the Gardens of Stone National Park.
The park is endowed with an amazing amount of sandstone rock outcrops, known as pagodas, which vary in size and shape.
Combine these remarkable figures with a generally breathtaking landscape that includes towering cliffs, deep valleys, mesas, waterfalls, slot canyons, eucalypt forests and native animals and you have some very special natural scenery.
After a walk and several stops in the national park we head back to Sydney via a different route, the Great Western Highway.
On the way we visit spectacular Govetts Leap, the Hydro Majestic Hotel which has been wonderfully restored, and then progress to the three sisters at Echo Point.
Our final stop is Lincoln Rock, a great place from which to appreciate Jamison Valley.
Time to head home. You will have seen and experienced some of Australia’s best national parks.
