Scenic south coast and Kiama blowholes private day tour
SOUTH COAST DAY TOUR
Kiama blowholes, volcanic formations, Sea Cliff Bridge and a rainforest walk
We start the day by heading south to the Kiama blowhole. Basalt lava flows have created the perfect shaft for powerful waves to compress sea water and release it in blasts of sea spray.
If the swell is up the spray from the blowhole can shoot up to 25 metres into the air. We then proceed to the small blowhole and see yet another eruption.
Having had our fill of sea spray we make our way to the eerie basalt columns at Bombo Headland.
The hexagonal columns were created when red hot lava erupted onto the earths surface and then cooled and contracted.
After a walk around this surreal Headland we take a short stop at Cathedral Rocks to see more amazing volcanic rock formations.
It is time to visit the Minnamurra Whale Lookout Platform and Lookout. If in luck we may see a sprout of spray from a passing hump back whale.
Minnamurra Lookout provides an excellent vantage point to view the Minnamurra River flowing out to the south end of the beach where a sand spit is created and a striking volcanic outcrop known as Stack Island appears.
Time to head further north to imposing Sea Cliff Bridge, which follows the winding coastline and provides incredible views of the ocean below.
It is now time to make a few decisions.
We can either head to Symbio Wildlife Park or venture into the Royal National Park for a rainforest walk (90 minutes).
This can be determined on the day.
Our last stop for the day is the waterfall, lagoon and beach set-up at Wattamolla.
